      Why It Works

      The learning connection

Creating a storyboard engages both visual and verbal skills, enhancing understanding through dual coding. This method allows children to map their ideas visually, facilitating a deeper cognitive connection to the narrative they wish to build.

      Extend the Lesson

      Try it with your learner

      1. Gather 6 blank sheets of paper and colored markers. 2. Fold each sheet to create a mini storybook (3 panels per page). 3. Plan a short story about your favorite animal. 4. Draw a different scene in each panel to represent the beginning, middle, and end. 5. Write a few sentences under each panel describing what happens. 6. Share your animated storyboard with your family — what do they think?
