This activity helps children visualize storytelling by breaking it into scenes, fostering narrative skills. It engages their creativity as they design characters and settings, grounding their understanding of sequence and plot development.
By using Bruner's CPA approach, children first create physical storyboards (concrete), then conceptualize the narrative (pictorial), and finally can act out or animate their stories (abstract), reinforcing learning through multiple representations.
1. Gather 5 sheets of paper and colored pencils. 2. Fold each sheet in half to create a mini-book. 3. Decide on a simple story and divide it into 5 scenes. 4. Draw each scene on a separate page, adding a brief description beneath. 5. Share your storyboard with a family member and explain the plot. 6. What changes would make your story even better?
