      Why It Works

      The learning connection

Pattern recognition and classification are enhanced through embodied cognition; physically moving animal stickers connects cognitive tasks to tangible actions, making reasoning skills more intuitive. Vygotsky's scaffolding principle allows children to tackle puzzles just beyond their current ability with guidance.

      Extend the Lesson

      Try it with your learner

      1. Draw a 4x4 grid on paper, creating 16 boxes. 2. Gather 8 animal stickers (2 of each: lion, elephant, tiger, monkey). 3. Stick 4 animal stickers randomly in the grid, leaving 12 boxes empty. 4. Fill in the remaining boxes ensuring each animal appears only once in each row and column. 5. Check your solution with a family member or friend. 6. Challenge them to try it with their own sticker choices!
